There are many methods described on the internet for getting rid of spider mites on your buds. There is one simple method we use that is quite effective at “curtailing” the mites which works very well.
First of all, spider mites don’t typically show up until at least half way through flower, sometimes later, but in general, it’s at the end of the flower cycle. This is why “curtailing” works as opposed to trying to completely eradicate them with chemicals.
Simply use a dry Q-Tip and roll the cotton all around the bud in the webbing and you’ll notice that it all sticks to the q-tip. Do this to all the buds that have any trace of web. When done you’ll notice there are a few mites stuck in the webbing wrapped around the q-tip. This will last a day sometimes two days but they will be back so you just have to make it a habit to go in and roll the q-tip around. You can also beef up the power by dipping the q-tip in rubbing alcohol. The fumes will kill the mites instantly. The pistils may turn a bit brown from this but it won’t affect anything.
